The iPhone X is Apple’s first iPhone without a fingerprint reader for a number of years. Instead of using a fingerprint reader, the handset uses facial recognition and Apple’s new Face ID software.
The company also launched a new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, both handsets come with a fingerprint scanner.
According to a recent report by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is expected to drop the fingerprint readers in next years iPhones and switch over to Face ID.
We predict all new 2H18F iPhone models will likely abandon fingerprint recognition. We believe this change will allow all new models to realize a competitive advantage via differentiation, on the back of an integrated user experience of full-screen design and TrueDepth Camera/ Facial recognition/ Face ID/ AR applications.
Apple is also expected to use OLED displays in all of next years iPhones, we are expecting to see a new iPhone 9 and 9 Plus as well as a replacement for the iPhone X.
