A Polar Bear Tries to Break Into the Reinforced Box Protecting BBC Wildlife Filmmaker

They were filming the 2013 BBC nature series The Polar Bear Family and Me, the wildlife filmmaker Gordon Buchanan found that a very hungry and very determined polar bear really wanted to bring him home for lunch. The nosy ursine used every trick she knew in order to try to get into the reinforced cage containing Buchanan, using her massive paw and jaws to breach any opening. Luckily, the polar bear retreated off when understood that she was spending far too many calories for too little a reward. While he was able to get some utterly brilliant photos from this contact, it was probably one of the most horrifying moments in Buchanan’s long career.
