For film nerds out there we have a special treat if you want a behind-the-scenes look at how 70mm projection works, Check out the incredible video below.
The video features projectionist Yves Leibowitz revealing his work in the projection booth of the Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn. He gives a tour and reveals what it’s like to thread a 70mm film using Paul Thomas Anderson’s new movie Licorice Pizza.
The art of projecting films like this is now a dying art with the rise of digital projection. There are only a few cinemas out there that still have film projectors, and there are even fewer that are 70mm-compatible. I love watching movies in old-school 70mm cinemas and this video just made me love even more the art of projection even more.
