Apple’s New iPhones Exposed By YouTube Celebrity

Apple may have leaked its biggest new iPhone in iOS 12 beta code, but now we have the most detailed hands-on yet which breaks down all three of Apple’s upcoming iPhones…

It comes via popular YouTuber Marques Brownlee (aka MKBHD), who has got the detailed dummy models of the second generation, iPhone X, new 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus and potentially game-changing budget 6.1-inch iPhone X, which currently goes by iPhone 9 or ‘iPhone’ and is referred to as iPhone X Lite in this video. Moreover, Brownlee’s side-by-side examination exposes their biggest upgrades and differences.

The obvious starting point is size. In June I attained leaked schematics of the new models and Brownlee’s dummy units tie-in with these measurements, confirming the iPhone X Plus will actually be no larger than the 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus thanks to its bezel-less display. While the second generation iPhone X is physically identical to the original iPhone X and the budget iPhone X is slightly thicker and heavier than the premium models.

Interestingly, Brownlee notes the budget iPhone X may have thicker bezels than its premium stablemates. This despite the LCD phone sporting groundbreaking display technology capable of even thinner bezels than the OLED panels in the iPhone X and iPhone X Plus. If Apple goes through with this, it would be a choice to make the budget model look inferior.

Brownlee notes 3D Touch will feature in all three new iPhones. Something which would be great news, given the budget iPhone X was expected to omit the feature and signal the beginning of the end for 3D Touch. That model will also be limited to a single rear camera but as that’s the main module, not the 2x zoom lens, few are likely to care about this compromise.

Brownlee doesn’t discuss the internals of the new iPhones, but we already know the budget iPhone X has a  party trick. While on the flipside, though all new models will feature fast charging, it may be hostile to third-party fast chargers.

Despite this, Brownlee does touch upon what is arguably the most exciting feature of the new iPhones: their significant price cuts – and the budget iPhone X is expected to be the biggest crowd pleaser in this respect.
