Caitlyn Jenner Defends Voting For Trump but Says She’s Not Loyal to Him

Caitlyn Jenner

On NBC’s Late Night, Jenner said that she’s “not a one-issue voter” and that while she knows “the Republican party does not do a good job when it comes to equality and the entire LGBT community” and that Democrats are “better there” she’s voted Republican for a long time.

“I’m probably more conservative. I believe in little things like the Constitution and freedom,” said Jenner, adding that she believes in minimal government. “Republicans have done a better job in that direction,” she said. “Now as far as LGBT people, I gotta keep an eye on these people.”

“My loyalty is not with Donald Trump,” said Jenner. “My loyalty is not with the Republican party. My loyalty is with my community, and I will fight for this community.”

She said at some point she may talk to Trump about trans issues, but that she’s also worried about other people in his administration who are anti-LGBT rights. If she does speak with Trump, she said she will do it in private to try and avoid backlash from the trans community.

“I was asked a question the other day, ‘Would you vote for him again?’” Jenner told Meyers. “I said, ‘Wait a second, it’s three-and-a-half years away. There’s a lot that’s going to happen in that three-and-a-half years, and I’ll make that decision at that point.'”
