“Cyclops has its eye on you” is an excellent sequence, shot by Tom Jennings, of a gorgeous beautiful wave off western Australia’s southern coastline called Cyclops. Surfline adds:
It’s cool how this clip starts out looking like nighttime footage, then you realize it’s actually just shadowing from the lip. It’s cool how the slow-motion effect makes you believe this is a normal ocean wave, then you realize it takes a fully strapped jet-ski, hard-earned local knowledge and otherworldly courage to access it. It’s cool how the spot is named after a mythical monster, then you realize the metaphor is quite accurate.
That’s all that’s cool. The rest is intensely, swelteringly… terrifying. That’s probably why no one’s riding it.
