Lionsgate has unveiled the first trailer for director Doug Liman’s sci-fi thriller Chaos Walking, and finally, it will be released soon. The movie stars Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland, and after learning about all the problems the movie had I didn’t expect it to go through. But the trailer of the movie looks promising and it actually looks great.
The movie is an adaptation of Patrick Ness‘s adult trilogy and the studio spent about $100 million on the grand project in hopes to release a franchise. The post-apocalyptic movie is detailed as follow:
Todd Hewitt lives on the distant planet of New World—a new hope for humanity until struck by “The Noise,” a virus which inflicts immersive visions of ones’ every thought. The cacophony drives many mad until Todd makes a hidden, silent discovery: there is a girl named Viola, who may be the key to unlocking New World’s many-layered secrets. Together, the two unlikely companions are forced on a white-knuckle adventure into an unexplored planet – trying to escape and hide in an environment where all thought is heard, all movement seen –as they both discover the truth about the lives they left behind and the spectacular world they’ve learned to call home.
The movie also stars Holland (Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming) as Todd Hewlitt and Ridley (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi) as Viola Eade, and co-stars Mads Mikkelsen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) as Mayor Prentiss, Nick Jonas (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) as Davy Prentiss Jr., Demian Bichir (Alien: Covenant) as Ben, Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter as Cillian, and David Oyelowo (Selma, Interstellar) as Aaron.
The film is late so much because Lionsgate executives took a look at the movie, and called the movie “unreleasable.” That was after they spent millions more into the production to do three weeks’ worth of reshoots to release the movie and make this project work.
Chaos Walking will be released on January 21, 2021.
