Four Planets Orbiting a Star

Watch this super cool video below that features four planets orbiting a star that’s 130 light-years away! This is a time-lapse video taken over the course of 12 years. This type of incredible thing just blows my mind! The video was shared on YouTube by Jason Wang, and it came with the following note:

An updated time-lapse of the previous 7-year time lapse! HR 8799 harbors four super-Jupiters circling with periods that range from decades to centuries. We have been watching this system using the Keck Observatory on Maunakea. This movie was made using actual images taken from the telescope. Motion interpolation was used on 10 photos of HR 8799 taken over 12 years to create this film.
