HBO has released a trailer for the found footage documentary The Princess, about the life and fame of Princess Diana. The film premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, and it was made by acclaimed British documentary filmmaker Ed Perkins (Garnet’s Gold, Tell Me Who I Am).
The Princess documentary film from Academy-Award nominated director Ed Perkins tells the story of Princess Diana exclusively through contemporaneous archival footage which creates a bold and immersive narrative of her life and death. Turning the camera back on ourselves, the film illuminates the profound impact she had and how the public’s attitude to the monarchy was, and still is, shaped by these events.
This looks like a sad film that really takes the viewers into the very poorest aspect of Diana’s life, the media who always surrounded her and built a damaging narrative around her every decision and facial expression. HBO will release The Princess streaming on HBO Max on August 13th.
