Rare Sight of an Owl Swimming Through a Canyon

Some hikers were going through a Canyon in Lake Powell between Arizona and Utah where they saw something really cool and rare. According to National Geographic, it’s likely a young great horned owl and still has some of its nestling feathers.

Great horned owls often roost on cliff ledges, so it is possible that it falls from the nest into the water. Seeing an owl swim is unusual, and they have no way to defend themselves while in the water.
