YouTube user Hogwit created this “homemade multirotor with a semiautomatic handgun mounted on it.”
According to the post, the rig is 26 inches from the tip of the gun to the back of frame.
Anyone who’s ever seen a science fiction movie can attest, teaching robots to shoot might not exactly be the best idea in the world. Everything from Terminator to The Matrix tells us that robots will eventually realize they’re smarter than us once artificial intelligence sets in and will do their best to control, destroy, or eat us.
“One can imagine such technology outsmarting financial markets, out-inventing human researchers, out-manipulating human leaders, and developing weapons we cannot even understand,” Hawking said earlier this year. Of course, a flying machine with a gun that can fire at will and then float away to be reloaded by an armory robot (let’s assume someone’s working on one of those somewhere, too) can be dangerous on a smaller scale.
